Test F: DTC C1155 - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor (Electrical/Static): Testing
NOTE:
If no problems are found while testing sensor and circuits, check for intermittent conditions. See INTERMITTENT FAILURES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Connect NGS or scan tool. Clear DTCs. Drive vehicle at least 10 MPH. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC C1155 is set, go to next step. If other DTCs are set, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS table. If no DTCs are set, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABCM. Connect breakout box. Check resistance between breakout box pins No. 11 and 23 (except late production Excursion), or No. 12 and 4 (late production Excursion). If resistance is 2000-4000 ohms for 2WD vehicles or 300-500 ohms for 4WD vehicles, go to step 4. If resistance is not within given ranges, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF ABS sensor. Check resistance between sensor terminals. If resistance is not 2000-4000 ohms for 2WD vehicles or 300-500 ohms for 4WD vehicles, install a new left front wheel speed sensor (electrical/static). Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation. If resistance is within given range, repair harness Tan/Black or Tan/Orange wire circuit(s) between speed sensor and ABCM. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF ABS sensor. Check resistance between ground and breakout box pins No. 11 and No. 23 (except late production Excursion), or No. 4 and 12 (late production Excursion). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation and go to next step. If resistance is not more than 10 k/ohms, repair harness Tan/Orange and Tan/Black wire circuits for short to ground. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
- Disconnect LF ABS sensor. Check resistance between LF ABS sensor terminals and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in ABS harness Tan/Black and Tan/Orange wire circuits. If resistance is not as described, replace LF ABS sensor. See LEFT FRONT ABS SENSOR REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
