Test B: DTC B1355 (Ignition Run Circuit Failure) & DTC B1359 (Ignition Run/Acc Circuit Failure)
- Using NGS tester, perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test. If DTC B1355 is retrieved, go to step 5. If DTC B1359 is retrieved, go to step 3. If no DTCs were retrieved, go to next step.
- With NGS tester connected to Data Link Connector (DLC), turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, access and monitor GEM PIDS: IGN_S, IGN_R, IGN_O/L, IGN_A while cycling through all ignition switch positions. If GEM PIDS agree with ignition switch positions, go to step 6. If GEM PIDS do not agree with ignition switch positions, go to next step.
- Verify radio operation with ignition switch in ACC and RUN positions. If radio operates in both switch positions, go to next step. If radio does not operate in both switch positions, repair power distribution circuits as necessary. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove Generic Electronic Module (GEM). See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between junction box/fuse relay panel 18-pin connector C240d terminal No. 13 and ground. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, replace junction box/fuse relay panel. Retest system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure GEM is installed on back of junction box/fuse relay panel. Disconnect GEM 26-pin connector C240a. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between GEM 26-pin harness connector C240a terminal No. 18 (Red/Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, system is operating correctly at this time. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, perform TEST F: NO POWER IN START POSITION .
- Ensure all connectors are properly connected and seated. Inspect connectors for corrosion or pushed-out pins. Operate system and verify concern still exists. If concern is still present, replace GEM. Clear DTCs, and repeat GEM self-test. If concern does not still exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs, and repeat GEM self-test.
