Test T: Integrated Circuit Display Inoperative Or Inaccurate

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) module harness connector C1012. Install 60-pin Breakout Box (014-00322) following manufacturer's instructions. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between breakout box pins No. 37 or 57 (Red wires) and pins No. 40 or 60 (Black wires). If battery voltage exists, go to step  5. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between breakout pins No. 26 and 37. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short between Red and Brown/White wires of NGV module. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between breakout box pins No. 40 or 60 and pin No. 26. If resistance reading is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire. Brown/White wire runs from terminal No. 26 at NGV module harness connector C1012 to in-line splice C100 (located at left rear of engine compartment, below engine access cover) and fuel tank pressure sensor harness connector C349. If resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and breakout box pins No. 40 or 60. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Red wire to terminal No. 87 at PCM power relay, splice S180 (Located at left rear of engine compartment, above master cylinder) and terminals No. 37 and 57 at NGV module harness connector C1012. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace NGV module.
  5. Measure resistance between breakout box pins No. 40 or 60 and No. 16. If resistance reading is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, replace NGV module.
  6. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connectors. Measure resistance in Black/White wire between terminal No. 5 at instrument cluster harness connector C224 and breakout box pin No. 16. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/White wire between terminal No. 5 at instrument cluster harness connector C224, splice S268 (located at left rear of engine compartment on firewall) and ground G203 (located at upper left side of instrument panel).
