Test Q: Air Bag Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C226. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster connector C226 (component side). If battery voltage is not present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor connector C200 (located under right side of instrument panel). Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between terminal No. 6 at instrument cluster connector C226 and terminal No. 7 at air bag diagnostic monitor connector C200. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between instrument cluster and air bag diagnostic monitor. Retest system.
  3. Remove air bag warning indicator bulb. Check for continuity between air bag indicator bulb terminals. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb. Retest system. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system.
