Test M: High Beam Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C225. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn headlight switch to high beams. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 9 (Light Green/Black wire) at instrument cluster connector C225. If battery voltage exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect multifunction switch connector C251. Measure resistance of Light Green/Black wire between terminal No. 5 at multifunction switch connector C251 and terminal No. 9 at instrument cluster connector C225. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Black wire between multifunction switch connector and instrument cluster. Retest system.
  3. Remove high beam indicator bulb. Check for continuity across high beam indicator bulb terminals. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb and retest system.
