Passenger-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

Before proceeding, See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Passenger-side air bag module is mounted in right side of instrument panel, above glove box. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Open glove box door. Press sides inward and lower glove box to floor. Remove 4 screws from glove box top finish panel and remove glove box top finish panel.
Disconnect A/C duct from evaporator housing and instrument panel register. Remove A/C register duct. Disconnect air bag module electrical connector. Remove 2 bolts retaining air bag module to cross vehicle beam. Remove 2 nuts from front of air bag module. See Figure . To remove passenger-side air bag module, lower front edge of module, then roll module around cross vehicle beam lowering it into footwell.
