Solenoid Valve Body Assembly

  1. The solenoid valve body assembly contains EPC solenoid, Shift Solenoid No. 1 (SS1), Shift Solenoid No. 2 (SS2), 3-2 Timing/Coast Clutch solenoid (3-2T/CCS) and Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid. See the SHIFT SOLENOID OPERATION  table.
    SHIFT SOLENOID OPERATION

    (1) Transaxle is in 3rd gear until vehicle speed drops below calibrated speed.
    (2) Transaxle is in 2nd gear until vehicle speed drops below calibrated speed.
  2. When shift solenoid is always off, failure could be due to the PCM and/or vehicle wiring malfunction, and/or solenoid electrically, hydraulically or mechanically stuck off. For shift symptoms, see Fig 1-Fig 2 .
  3. When shift solenoid is always on, failure could be due to the PCM and/or vehicle wiring malfunction, and/or solenoid electrically, hydraulically or mechanically stuck on. For shift symptoms, see Fig 3-Fig 4 .
