Power Steering Pump to Steering Gear Pressure Line: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the power steering line clamp plate bolt and rotate the plate.
  3. NOTE: New O-ring seals must be installed any time the lines are disconnected from the steering gear.
  4. Disconnect the high pressure line from the steering gear and discard the O-ring seal.
  5. Remove the high pressure line bracket-to-crossmember bolt.
  6. Remove the high pressure line bracket-to-engine bolt on the 5.4L, or the nut on the 4.2L and 4.6L.
  7. Disconnect the high pressure line fitting-to-pump and remove the high pressure line.
    • Remove and discard the Teflon® seal.
