In-Vehicle Repair: Camshaft: Installation

  1. Lubricate the camshaft with clean engine oil and install it in the engine block.
  2. Install the camshaft spacer.
  3. Install the camshaft thrust plate and the bolts.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  4. Install the camshaft Woodruff key.
  5. Make sure the engine dynamic balance shaft Woodruff key is at the 12 o'clock position and the camshaft Woodruff key is at the 6 o'clock position.
  6. Install the engine dynamic balance shaft drive gear on the camshaft. Make sure the timing marks on the drive gear and driven gear are lined up.

  7. Install the timing drive components. For additional information, refer to TIMING DRIVE COMPONENTS .
  8. Install the valve tappets. For additional information, refer to VALVE TAPPET .
