Cylinder Head: Disassembly

CAUTION: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same position. Mark the components removed for location.
  1. Remove the spark plugs, if necessary.
    • To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft)

  2. Using the special tool, compress the valve springs.

  3. Remove the following:
    1. Valve spring retainer keys
    2. Valve spring retainers
    3. Valve springs
    4. Valve stem seals and seats
    5. Intake valves
    6. Exhaust valves

  4. Inspect the components. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
