Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
- Loosen the block heater retaining screw and remove the block heater.
- To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure
- Route the block heater power cable away from hot or rotating components, or damage to the cable can occur.
CAUTION:
Do not loosen the block heater retaining screw more than necessary for removal.
NOTE:
Clean the engine block mating surface with metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.
