Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect the performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation is necessary. Do not use a new part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES .
  2. Remove the dust cap.
  3. Remove the axle-to-wheel hub nut
    • To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
  4. Detach the wheel speed sensor harness from the brake hose.

  5. Remove the anchor plate bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).
  6. CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the hose or damage to the hose can occur.
  7. Remove the brake caliper, pads and anchor plate as an assembly.
    • Using mechanic's wire, position the brake assembly aside.
  8. Remove the brake disc.
  9. Remove the front wheel speed sensor.
    • Remove the front wheel speed sensor bolt.
    • Detach the wheel speed sensor from the hub.

  10. Remove the 4 wheel hub-to-wheel knuckle bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).
  11. CAUTION: Do not use a hammer to separate the halfshaft from the hub.
  12. Remove the wheel bearing and hub.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
