Engine Support Insulators: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the throttle body. For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING & CONTROLS - 5.4L (3V) .
- Remove the 3 bolts and position the power steering fluid reservoir aside.
- Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .
- Remove the upper radiator sight shield.
- Remove the bolts and position the cooling fan shroud away from the radiator.
- Install the special tool.
- If equipped, remove the 4 bolts and the skid plate.
- Remove the 4 exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts.
- Remove the exhaust system support bracket bolts from the crossmember.
- Loosen the transmission mount nuts.
- Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM .
- Remove the oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE .
- If removing the LH engine support insulator in a 4WD vehicle, index mark the front driveshaft flange to the front axle pinion flange.
- If removing the LH engine support insulator in a 4WD vehicle, disconnect and support the front driveshaft.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Support the front driveshaft.
- Remove the RH engine support insulator nuts and washer.
- Remove the LH engine support insulator bolt.
- Using the special tools, raise the engine.
- Remove the 3 RH engine support insulator bracket-to-cylinder block bolts.
- Remove the RH engine support insulator.
- Remove the 3 LH engine support insulator bracket-to-cylinder block bolts.
- Remove the LH engine support insulator.

CAUTION:
Do not let the driveshaft hang unsupported.
