Engine Support Insulators: Removal

    All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet pipe and resonator. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  4. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .
  5. Remove the bolts and position the cooling fan shroud away from the radiator.

  6. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module-to-exhaust manifold tube upper fitting.

  7. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.

  8. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  9. Disconnect the vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

  10. Disconnect the EGR system module vacuum and electrical connectors.

  11. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube quick connect fitting at the rear of the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

  12. Disconnect the PCV tube quick connect fitting at the RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

  13. Disconnect the electronic throttle control electrical connector.

  14. Disconnect the throttle body (TB) spacer vacuum hose.

  15. Remove the 4 TB spacer bolts and position the TB assembly aside.
    • Discard the TB spacer gasket.

  16. Install the special tool.

  17. Remove the 4 exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts.

  18. Remove the exhaust system support bracket bolts from the crossmember.

  19. Remove the transmission mount nuts.

    20. 4WD vehicles 

  20. Remove the 4 nuts and lower the front stabilizer bar.

    RH engine support insulator 

  21. Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM .

    22. LH engine support insulator 

  22. Remove the oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE .
  23. If removing the LH engine support insulator in a 4WD vehicle, index mark the front driveshaft flange to the front axle pinion flange.

    24. CAUTION: Do not let the driveshaft hang unsupported.

  24. If removing the LH engine support insulator in a 4WD vehicle, disconnect and support the front driveshaft.
    • Remove the 4 bolts.
    • Support the front driveshaft.

    25. All vehicles 

  25. Remove the RH engine support insulator nuts and washer.

  26. Remove the LH engine support insulator bolt.

  27. Raise the engine.

    28. RH engine support insulator 

  28. Remove the 3 RH engine support insulator bracket bolts.
  29. Remove the 2 RH engine support insulator bracket-to-engine support insulator bolts.
  30. Remove the RH engine support insulator bracket and the RH engine support insulator.

    31. LH engine support insulator 

  31. Remove the 3 LH engine support insulator bracket bolts.
  32. Remove the 2 LH engine support insulator bracket-to-engine support insulator bolts.
  33. Remove the LH engine support insulator bracket and the LH engine support insulator.
