Diagnostic Aids
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Perform this test only when directed by QUICK TEST. This test is intended to diagnose the following components and circuits:
- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometer (MAP/BARO) sensor.
- MAP/BARO solenoid.
- Harness circuit; MAP/BARO.
- PCM.
MAP/BARO & MAP/BARO SOL CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION
| Circuit | PCM Pin No. | Wire Color |
|---|---|---|
| MAP/BARO | 41 | Pink |
| VREF | 57 | Brown |
| SIG RTN | 58 | Black/Yellow |
| MAP/BARO SOL | 98 | Violet |
For DTC P0105, disconnect MAP/BARO sensor circuit connector. Insert a jumper wire between VREF and MAP/BARO signal circuits at MAP/BARO sensor harness connector with ignition on. MAP/BARO PID should read approximately 5 volts. With MAP/BARO sensor circuit connector disconnected, insert a jumper wire between SIG RTN terminal and MAP/BARO sensor signal circuits at MAP/BARO sensor harness connector with ignition on. MAP/BARO PID should read approximately zero volt.
For DTC P1105, there should be a significant difference in MAP/BP_V PID readings between KOEO and KOER at idle for at least 5 seconds.
