Fuel System Monitor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The fuel system monitor is a self-test strategy within PCM that monitors adaptive fuel table. The fuel control system uses adaptive fuel table to compensate for normal variability of fuel system components caused by wear or aging. During normal vehicle operation, if fuel system appears "biased" (lean or rich), adaptive fuel table will shift fuel delivery calculations to remove bias.
