Safety Belt Retractor - Front, Without Seat Integrated Restraints (SIR): Installation

    Crew Cab vehicles 

    CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the shoulder safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
    NOTE: Make sure that after an automatic locking retraction (ALR) retractor is installed that the retractor is not in the ALR mode of operation when installed.
  1. Install the safety belt retractor.
    1. Position the safety belt retractor, aligning the tabs into the sheet metal.
    2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.

  2. Install the driver side B-pillar trim panel, the rear assist handle and front and rear door scuff plates.
  3. NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide cover is damaged or the cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide cover.

  4. Position the driver side shoulder safety belt guide, install the nut and close the cover.
  5. Crew Cab passenger side 

    NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted.
  6. Install the front passenger side safety belt anchor.
    1. Position the front passenger side safety belt anchor.
    2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.

  7. Crew Cab driver side 

    NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted.
  8. Install the front driver side safety belt anchor.
    1. Position the front driver side safety belt anchor.
    2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.

  9. SuperCab vehicles 

    CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the shoulder safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.

  10. Position the safety belt shoulder height adjuster, install the bolt and reposition the cover.
  11. Install the safety belt shoulder height adjuster cover pin-type retainer.

  12. NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure that the safety belt webbing is not twisted.

  13. Position the safety belt anchor and install the bolt.
  14. NOTE: Make sure that after an automatic locking retraction (ALR) retractor is installed, the retractor is not in the ALR mode of operation when installed.
    NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure that the safety belt webbing is not twisted.

  15. Position the safety belt retractor and install the bolt.
  16. Install the driver side door scuff plate.

  17. Regular cab vehicles 

    CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the shoulder safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.

  18. Install the safety belt retractor.
    1. Position the safety belt retractor, aligning the tabs into the sheet metal.
    2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.
    3. Install the bolt.

  19. Install the driver side door scuff plate and rear corner trim panel.
  20. NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide cover is damaged or the cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide cover.

  21. Position the driver side shoulder safety belt guide, install the nut and close the shoulder safety belt guide cover.
  22. NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure that the safety belt webbing is not twisted.

  23. Position the safety belt anchor. Using the special tool, install the bolt.
  24. All vehicles
