Test Step
- F1 CHECK THE VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE KEYPAD SWITCH PIDS
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Vehicle Security Module KEYPAD PIDS.
- Press each remote keyless entry (RKE) keypad button while viewing vehicle security module KEYPAD PIDS.
- Do the PID values agree with the RKE keypad button positions?
Result / Action to Take
- Yes : GO to F5.
- No : GO to F2.
- F2 CHECK CIRCUITS 121 (YE/BK), 122 (YE), AND 123 (RD) FOR RESISTANCE TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Vehicle Security Module C2113c.
- Using the following table, measure the resistance between the vehicle security module C2113c harness side and ground:
Vehicle Security Module C2113c Circuit pin 2 121 (YE/BK) pin 3 123 (RD) pin 9 122 (YE) - Is any resistance less than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F3.
- No : GO to F4.
- F3 CHECK CIRCUITS 121 (YE/BK), 122 (YE), AND 123 (RD) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Keypad C500.

- Yes : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : INSTALL a new RKE keypad. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F4 CHECK CIRCUITS 121 (YE/BK), 122 (YE), 123 (RD), AND 124 (BR) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: RKE Keypad C500.
- Use the following table to measure the resistance between the vehicle security module C2113c, harness side and RKE keypad C500 harness side:
Vehicle Security Module C2113c Circuit RKE Keypad C500 pin 2 121 (YE/BK)/ 78 (LB/YE) pin 1 pin 3 123 (RD)/ 121 (YE/BK) pin 7 pin 4 124 (BN) pin 6 pin 9 122 (YE)/ 79 (LG/RD) pin 3 - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new RKE keypad. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F5 CHECK FOR CORRECT VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the vehicle security module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the vehicle security module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new vehicle security module. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . REPEAT the self-test.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
