Pinpoint Test Z: The Individual Trailer Lamp Is Inoperative - RH Trailer Turn Signal/STOPLAMP/Hazard Flasher Lamp

  1. Z1 CHECK TURN SIGNAL OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Trailer Tow C4098 (4-pin).
    • Disconnect: Trailer Tow C4099 (7-pin).
    • Disconnect the trailer from the vehicle.
    • Check the operation of the vehicle exterior lighting systems for any concerns.
    • Does the exterior lighting system of the vehicle operate correctly? 
    • Yes  : GO to Z2.
    • No  : REPAIR any vehicle exterior lighting concerns. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. Z2 CHECK CIRCUIT 64 (DG) FOR POWER 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Place the multifunction switch in the RH turn position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer tow C4098-4, circuit 64 (DG) (4-pin connector), or the trailer tow C4099-4, circuit 64 (DG) (7-pin connector), harness side and ground.

    • Does the voltage alternate between less than 1 volt and greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : The vehicle is operating correctly. SEND the trailer to an authorized camper/trailer repair center.
    • No  : GO to Z3.
  3. Z3 CHECK THE TRAILER RH TURN RELAY 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Trailer RH Turn Relay.
    • Carry out the trailer RH turn relay component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
    • Is the trailer RH turn relay OK? 
    • Yes  : If equipped with 6.0L diesel, GO to  Z7.

      All others, GO to Z4.

    • No  : INSTALL a new trailer RH turn relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. Z4 CHECK THE INPUT FROM THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer RH turn relay pin 1, circuit 5 (OG/LB), harness side and ground.

    • Does the voltage alternate between less than 1 volt and greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to Z5.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 5 (OG/LB). TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. Z5 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE TRAILER RH TURN RELAY 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer RH turn relay pin 3, circuit 1362 (DG/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to Z6.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 1362 (DG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. Z6 CHECK THE TRAILER RH TURN RELAY GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between trailer RH turn relay pin 2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less then 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 64 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. Z7 CHECK CIRCUIT 5 (OG/LB) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer RH turn relay pin 86, circuit 5 (OG/LB), harness side and ground.

    • Does the voltage alternate between less than 1 volt and greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to Z8.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. Z8 CHECK CIRCUIT 1362 (DG/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer RH turn relay pin 30, circuit 1362 (DG/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to Z9.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  9. Z9 CHECK THE TRAILER RH TURN RELAY GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between trailer RH turn relay pin 85, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 64 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
