Malfunction Indicator Light: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
When a fault is detected for the first time, DTC is stored in compuvalve memory. When same fault or if an emission-related fault is detected in 2 consecutive trips, Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will illuminate. See TRIP DESCRIPTION . The MIL will go off when fault condition no longer exists or vehicle is driven 2 times (LPG) or 3 times (CNG) with no fault.
The MIL will also go off if the vehicle switches automatically to gasoline. The drive is counted only when the recorded driving pattern is met. If another fault occurs while counting, the counter will reset. The DTC can be displayed until vehicle is driven 40 times. For additional information, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - BI-FUEL article.
