Removal and Installation

    All engines 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
  4. 5.4L 3V engines 

  5. Remove the nut and position the starter wiring harness and support bracket aside.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  6. All engines 

  7. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  8. Remove the 3 bolts and position the A/C compressor aside.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  9. Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  10. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor. Discard the O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
    • Lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine oil prior to installation.
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
