Test Dc: Fuel Rail Pressure: Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup and 2002 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: High FRPREAB value indicates high pressure in system. Use caution when working with components in system.

  1. 1) Check FRPREAB PID
Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access AFCM and select FRPREAB PID from PID/DATA MONITOR & RECORD menu. If FRPREAB PID reading is less than 6 psi, perform COMPUVALVE CHECK  under QUICK TEST. If fault still exists, replace compuvalve. If FRPREAB PID reading is more than 150 psi (CNG) or 60 psi (LPG), go to next step. If FRPREAB PID reading is 6-150 psi (CNG) or 60 psi (LPG), system is operating normally at this time. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES - EEC-V - BI-FUEL article.
  2. 2) Check FRPREAB PID Change

Turn ignition off. Release ALT fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - F150 PICKUP - BI-FUEL article. Ensure scan tool is connected to DLC. Turn ignition on. Access AFCM and select FRPREAB PID from PID/DATA MONITOR & RECORD menu. If FRPREAB PID reading is more than 150 psi (CNG) or 60 psi (LPG), perform COMPUVALVE CHECK  under QUICK TEST. If fault still exists, replace compuvalve. If FRPREAB PID reading is 150 psi or less (CNG) or 60 psi or less (LPG), replace fuel regulator (CNG) or fuel vaporizer (LPG). See FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR or VAPORIZER (FUEL HEATER) under FUEL SYSTEM in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - F150 PICKUP - BI-FUEL article.
