Removal and Installation

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.

All vehicles

Remove the engine air cleaner. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid return hose.

Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid suction hose.

Vehicles with Hydro-Boost®

Release the clamp and disconnect the brake booster-to-power steering fluid reservoir return hose.

All vehicles

NOTE: The fluid reservoir bolts have a dry adhesive on the threads. The bolts must not be reused.

Remove and discard the power steering fluid reservoir upper bolt.
Remove and discard the power steering fluid reservoir lower bolt and remove the reservoir.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
