Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) is equipped with a permanent pigtail which must be protected when HO2S is removed. HO2S may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (48°C). Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect HO2S connector. Loosen and remove HO2S. If necessary, use a penetrant to help in loosening HO2S. Ensure HO2S is free of contaminants, and avoid using cleaning solvents of any type. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten HO2S to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
