Turbocharger Inlet Y-Pipe - Late Build: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Remove the turbocharger. For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING AND CONTROLS - TURBOCHARGER .
  3. Remove the fuel injector control module (FICM). For additional information, refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINE .
  4. Remove the retaining nuts and the rear FICM bracket from the LH valve cover.

  5. NOTE: There is a metal gasket between the turbocharger inlet Y-pipe and the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler.

  6. Remove the turbocharger inlet Y-pipe-to-EGR cooler clamp by opening up the clamp, pushing the clamp down, positioning the bottom of the clamp toward the EGR cooler and then positioning the top of the clamp toward the EGR cooler.
  7. Remove the LH turbocharger inlet Y-pipe-to exhaust manifold nuts.

  8. Remove the RH turbocharger inlet Y-pipe-to exhaust manifold nuts.

  9. Position the turbocharger inlet Y-pipe to gain access to the turbocharger inlet Y-pipe joint. Remove the bolts, separate the turbocharger inlet Y-pipe joint and remove the gasket. Remove the 2 parts of the turbocharger inlet Y-pipe.
