Removal and Installation

NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

    All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  3. Remove the lug wrench.
  4. Vehicles equipped with auxiliary climate control 

  5. Disconnect the auxiliary line fitting.

  6. All vehicles 

  7. Disconnect the manifold and tube fitting at the suction accumulator.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.

  8. Remove the tube clamp.

  9. Remove the pin-type retainers and the sight shield.

  10. Disconnect the A/C condenser core inlet line.

  11. Disconnect the pressure cutoff switch electrical connector.

  12. 4x4 vehicles 

  13. Loosen the A/C manifold and tube bolt and remove the manifold and tube assembly.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.

  14. 4x2 vehicles 

  15. Loosen the A/C manifold and tube bolt and remove the manifold and tube assembly.

  16. Remove the pressure cutoff/dual function pressure switch.

  17. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  18. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
