Removal and Installation

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
Remove the damper nut and separate the damper from the drag link.

Remove the damper-to-bracket nut and the damper.

NOTE: Make sure the sump (bulge on the damper body near the bolt eye) is facing downward before tightening the fasteners.

NOTE: When repairing the linkage clean the damper shaft of all corrosion and dirt. Buff the damper shaft smooth. Repairing the linkage changes the damper travel slightly. A dirty/corroded shaft can damage the damper seal and create a leak.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
