Removal & Installation (3.0L - Upper)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect breather tube, loosen clamp and position air outlet tube aside. Remove bolt and accelerator cover. Disconnect accelerator cable, speed control cable and return spring from throttle linkage. Disconnect accelerator cable and speed control cable from accelerator bracket.
  2. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connectors. Disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body. Remove nut and position oil level indicator aside. Remove nut and upper intake manifold support brace. Loosen bolt and position male side of 42-pin in-line wiring harness aside. Remove female side of 42-pin connector from bracket and position aside.
  3. Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose. Remove Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve from valve cover. Remove bolts and upper intake manifold. Clean gasket mating surfaces. Install NEW gasket. Tighten bolts in sequence to specification. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM FILLING & BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.
