Installation (3.0L - Lower)

- Clean all sealing surfaces. Apply a drop of silicone gasket and sealant at 4 cylinder block-to-cylinder head seams. See Fig 1. Position and install intake manifold gaskets and front and rear seals. Position lower intake manifold. Install bolts and tighten in sequence to specification. See Fig 2. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install cylinder No. 3 intake valve push rod. Install cylinder No. 3 intake valve rocker arm and bolt. Tighten rocker arm bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where cylinder head and lower intake manifold seams meet. See Fig 3.
- Position and install valve cover. Install valve cover bolts and studs in proper locations, noted during removal. Tighten valve cover bolts and studs in sequence and to specification. See Fig 4. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill and bleed engine cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM FILLING & BLEEDING under COOLING SYSTEMS.
NOTE:
If lower intake manifold is not installed within 4 minutes of sealant application, remove sealant and reapply.
NOTE:
If valve cover is not installed within 4 minutes of sealant application, remove sealant and reapply.
