Transfer Case

    All vehicles 

  1. Install a new mounting gasket.

  2. CAUTION: Secure the transfer case to the high-lift jack with a safety strap.

  3. Raise the transfer case into position.
  4. Install the six bolts retaining the transfer case to the extension housing.

  5. Automatic transmission vehicles 

  6. Remove the jack stand from the extension housing.

  7. Install the transmission mount.

  9. Position the crossmember and loosely install the two nuts.
  10. Install the three LH crossmember bolts.

  11. Install the RH crossmember bolts.

  12. All vehicles 

  13. Remove the high-lift jack.

  14. Automatic transmission vehicles 

  15. Tighten the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

  16. All electric shift transfer cases 

  17. Connect the vent hose.

  18. Connect the two gear motor encoder assembly electrical connectors.

  19. All manual shift transfer cases 

  20. Connect the 3-position mode switch harness connector.

  21. Connect the manual shift linkage.
  22. All vehicles 

    CAUTION: Align the index-marks when installing the driveshaft.

  23. Connect the front driveshaft to the transfer case and install the four new bolts.
  24. Install the rear driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
  25. If equipped, install the skid plate and the four bolts.

  26. If drained, fill the transfer case. For additional information, refer to TRANSFER CASE DRAINING AND FILLING .
