Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

    • Binding linkage
    • Misaligned door
    • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse(s):
      • 7 (60A)
      • 22 (60A)
    • Central junction box (CJB) fuse(s):
      • 2 (10A)
      • 5 (30A)
      • 10 (20A)
    • Circuitry
    • Door lock control switch
    • Door lock actuator
    • Remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter
    • RKE transmitter batteries
    • Vehicle security module
    • Corroded sliding door contact buttons
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  5. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, Refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  6. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • SCP, CAN, or ISO circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    • No response/not equipped for the vehicle security module, refer to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
    • System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the vehicle security module.
  7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, proceed to the VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .

B1485 Brake Pedal Input Circuit Battery Short Vehicle Security Module This DTC is invalid for this vehicle application.
B2276 Less Than Two Transmitters Programmed Vehicle Security Module GO to PINPOINT TEST K .
B2425 Remote Keyless Entry Out of Synchronization Vehicle Security Module GO to PINPOINT TEST K .
- All Other DTCs Vehicle Security Module REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
