Pinpoint Test G: The STOPLAMPS Are On Continuously

  1. G1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH 
    • Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch C278.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
  2. G2 CHECK THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK 
    • Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock C2008.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
  3. G3 CHECK THE PCM 
    • Disconnect: PCM C175.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
    • Yes  : GO to G4.
    • No  : GO to  G7.
  4. G4 CHECK THE ABS MODULE 
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate?
    • Yes  : GO to G5.
    • No  : GO to  G8.
  5. G5 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a.
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
    • Yes  : If the high mounted stoplamp, GO to G6. If the LH rear lamp, REPAIR circuit 9 (LG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.

      If the RH rear lamp, REPAIR circuit 5 (OG/LB). TEST the system for normal operation.

    • No  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. G6 CHECK THE VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUITS 
    • Disconnect: CJB Fuse 39.
    • Does the high mounted stoplamp continue to illuminate? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 569 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. G7 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
  8. G8 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the ABS module connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the ABS module connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
