Pinpoint Test G: No Sound From One Or More Of The Speakers - Video System Output To The Front Speakers

CAUTION:
On vehicles equipped with a CD6 audio unit, interrupting battery power within 30 seconds of repowering will damage the audio unit. To prevent audio unit damage, do not disconnect the battery (or audio unit), reconnect the battery (or audio unit), and then disconnect it again within 30 seconds.
- G1 ISOLATE CONDITION
- Key in ON position.
- Turn on the audio unit.
- Carry out the speaker walk around test.
- Are all the speakers without sound?
- Yes : GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
- No : GO to G2.
- G2 CHECK OUTPUT CIRCUIT(S) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Audio Unit C2188b.
- Disconnect: Video Cassette Player C3076a.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the audio unit C2188b, harness side and ground, as follows:PIN CIRCUIT SPECIFICATION
Pin Circuit 17 1561 (OG) 18 1562 (YE) 19 1559 (RD) 20 1560 (WH) - Is any voltage present?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to G3.
- G3 CHECK OUTPUT CIRCUIT(S) FOR OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the audio unit C2188b, harness side and the VCP C3076a, harness side; and between the audio unit C2188b, harness side and ground as follows:CONNECTOR PIN SPECIFICATION
Audio Unit VCP Connector-Pin Circuit Connector-Pin Circuit C2188b-17 1561 (OG) C3077b-14 185 (YE) C2188b-18 1562 (YE) C3077b-13 175 (OG) C2188b-19 1559 (RD) C3077b-11 155 (RD) C2188b-20 1560 (WH) C3077b-12 165 (WH) - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms between the audio unit and the VCP; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the audio unit and ground?
- Yes : CONTACT an authorized Ford audio repair facility for further diagnostic assistance.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
