Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Cooler - Oil-to-Air Fluid Cooler, TorqShift: Installation

CAUTION: Do not attempt to backflush and clean the OTA transmission fluid cooler. Install a new OTA transmission fluid cooler as part of a transmission overhaul or exchange. Failure to follow these directions can result in transmission damage
  1. Position the OTA transmission fluid cooler in the vehicle and install the lower bolts.

  2. Connect the OTA auxiliary cooler return hose to the remote mounted fluid filter and install the constant tension clamp.

  3. Connect the auxiliary cooler inlet hose and install the constant tension clamp.

  4. Position the air deflector and install the bolts.

  5. Position the skid plate and install the bolts (4x4 only).

  6. Install the upper bolts by inserting a long extension and socket through the front grille and bumper.

  7. CAUTION: Use only MERCON® SP Transmission Fluid to service TorqShift transmissions. Mixing MERCON® or MERCON® V may cause transmission damage. Use of any fluid other than the recommended fluid can cause transmission damage.
  8. Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R70W/4R75W .
  9. Check for leaks.
