Shift Patterns: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Ford RV Cutaway, 2005 Ford Econoline, 2005 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2005 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

This vehicle is equipped with adaptive shift strategy. Whenever the battery has been disconnected for any type of service or repair, the strategy parameters that are stored in keep alive memory (KAM) will be lost. The strategy will start or relearn once the battery is reconnected and the vehicle is driven. This is a temporary condition and normal operating mode will be resumed once the powertrain control module (PCM) relearns all the parameters from the driving conditions. There is no set time frame for this process.

The customer needs to be notified that they may experience slightly firm shifts, delayed or early shifts. This operation is considered normal and will not affect the function or durability of the transmission. As the PCM relearns, this temporary condition will be replaced by normal operating condition.
