Removal and Installation

WARNING:
Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- Relieve the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION . .
- Remove the engine air cleaner and air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
- Disconnect the LH radio frequency interference capacitor and cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the RH radio frequency interference capacitor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.
- Disconnect the transmission wiring harness and the LH and RH heated oxygen (HO2S) electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor and crankshaft position (CKP) electrical connectors. Cut the tie-strap and position out the wiring.
- Disconnect the oil pressure switch electrical connector.
- Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor and EGR vacuum regulator solenoid electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the electronic throttle body (TB) electrical connector.
- Disconnect the ignition coil and the fuel injector electrical connectors and remove the wiring harness retainers from the valve cover studs.
- Disconnect the fuel rail pressure (FPR) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the bracket.
- Disconnect the push pin retainers from the powertrain control module (PCM) bracket.
- Disconnect the two PCM electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the remaining fasteners and remove the fuel charging wiring harness.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
