Steering Wheel & Horn Pad: Removal

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . See Figure .
- Remove air bag module and disconnect clockspring electrical connector from module. Remove bolt and vibration damper (if equipped), and reinstall bolt loosely.
- Use steering wheel puller to loosen steering wheel from steering shaft. Remove steering wheel bolt. Remove steering wheel.
CAUTION:
DO NOT strike steering shaft with hammer or use slide hammer to remove steering wheel. Steering shaft bearings could be damaged if appropriate puller is not used to remove steering wheel.
