Engine Front Cover: Installation

    All vehicles 

  1. If removed, install the front cover crankcase dowels into the cylinder block.

  2. NOTE: Use guide studs to aid in installation. Studs must be fabricated locally.

  3. Install the guide studs.
  4. Apply a bead of sealant at the seam where the crankcase and the lower crankcase meet.

  5. Install a new engine front cover gasket.

  6. Install the engine front cover and bolts.

  7. Install the oil pump. For additional information, refer to OIL PUMP .
  8. NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal on the coolant pump pulley.

  9. If removed, install the coolant pump and bolts.
  10. If removed, install the coolant pump pulley and bolts.

  11. Vehicles with single generator 

  12. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and bolts.

  13. All vehicles 

  14. Install the lower radiator coolant hose.

  15. Position the power steering pump and install the bolts.

  16. Install the LH fan stator stand-off.

  17. Install the power steering pump upper mounting bolts.

  18. Install the engine coolant fill hose and tighten the clamp. Connect the engine fill hose into the retaining clip.

  19. Install the accessory drive idler pulleys and bolts, as needed.

  20. NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal.

  21. If removed, install the thermostat housing and stud bolts.
  22. Position back the fuel line retaining bracket and install the retaining nut.

  23. Install the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD .
