Removal and Installation

Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Drain the engine oil.
Disconnect the coolant hoses.

Remove the oil filter.

CAUTION: If metal, aluminum or foreign material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose mechanical concerns, Refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

Remove the threaded insert and the oil cooler.
- Inspect the oil cooler.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil before filling the cooling system.
