Intake Manifold: Installation

  1. Install the intake manifold.
    • Position the intake manifold gaskets and the intake manifold, and loosely install the bolts.

  2. Install the thermostat housing.
    1. Install the thermostat.
    2. Install a new O-ring seal.

  3. NOTE: The thermostat housing bolts are tightened in sequence with the intake manifold bolts.

  4. Install the thermostat housing and loosely install the bolts.
  5. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in two stages.
    • Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
    • Stage 2: Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  6. Connect the pushpin retainer to the intake manifold bracket.

  7. Install the screws and the 10 coils.

  8. Position back the LH fuel charge wiring harness and install the bolts.

  9. Position back the RH fuel charging wiring harness and install the stud bolts.

  10. Position back the transmission fluid level indicator tube and install the retaining nut.

  11. Install the retaining nut on the transmission fluid indicator and tube.

  12. Connect the 10 ignition coil electrical connectors.

  13. Connect the 10 fuel injector electrical connectors.

  14. Connect the fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor electrical connector.

  15. Connect the vacuum connector.

  16. Connect the coolant hose.

  17. Install the throttle body adapter gasket and the throttle body and adapter as an assembly.

    Tighten the bolts in two stages.

    • Stage 1: Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
    • Stage 2: Tighten the bolts an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn).

  18. Connect the brake booster and evaporative emission hose.

  19. Connect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) coolant hose.

  20. Connect the heated PCV tube and engine vacuum harness.

  21. Connect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
    • Push in the red clip.

  22. Connect the electronic throttle body (TB) electrical connector.
    • Push in the red clip.

  23. Install the upper radiator hose.

  24. Connect the fuel hose spring lock couplings. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  25. Install the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .
  26. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  27. Install the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  28. Install the air cleaner assembly and tubes. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  29. Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
