Oil Cooler: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Drain the engine oil.
- Disconnect the coolant hoses.
- Remove the oil filter.
- Remove the threaded insert and the oil cooler.
- Clean and inspect the oil cooler.
- Plug the coolant connections.
- Flush the oil passages with parts cleaner. If metal particles are present in the oil cooler, install a new cooler.
CAUTION:
If metal or aluminum debris is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose mechanical concerns, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION
