Pinpoint Test A: The Parking Brake Will Not Apply

  1. A1 CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE 
    • At the conduit reaction bracket (E-150-E-350), pull the parking brake rear cable and conduit forward.
    • At the parking brake assembly (E-450), operate the parking brake lever.
    • Can the parking brake be operated? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR the binding condition in the front parking brake cable and conduit or the parking brake control (all vehicles). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the binding condition in the parking brake rear cable and conduit or drum brake system (E-150-E-350), or INSTALL a new transmission-mounted parking brake assembly (E-450), or REPAIR the worn or damaged parts in the drum-in-hat system. TEST the system for normal operation.
