Front Brake Caliper - E-150: Disassembly

  1. Remove the disc brake caliper. For additional information, refer to BRAKE CALIPER .
  2. Drain brake fluid from the disc brake caliper.
  3. Secure the disc brake caliper in a vise.
  4. Remove the caliper pistons.
    1. Place a wood block between the caliper bridge and the caliper piston.
    2. Apply low air pressure to the fluid port of the disc brake caliper.
    3. Force caliper pistons out to the wood block.
    4. Remove the wood block and the caliper pistons.

  5. Remove and discard the caliper piston seals and dust boots.
  6. NOTE: Do not hone the caliper cylinder bores. Caliper pistons are not available for honed calipers.
  7. If the caliper cylinder bores are damaged, install a new front disc brake caliper.
