Draining & Refilling: Transaxle

- Raise and support vehicle. Place drain pan under transaxle. Remove transaxle drain plug, and drain fluid. See Fig 1 . Reinstall transaxle drain plug. Clean the drain plug threads and apply a small amount of Pipe Sealant (Teflon(R) D8AZ-19554-A or XW7Z-19554-AA) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2.
- Lower the vehicle. Add 4 qts. (3.7L) of appropriate fluid. See RECOMMENDED FLUIDS . Start engine and run at idle for 5 minutes. Shift transaxle through all gear ranges during 5-minute time period. Fill the transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level and check for correct transaxle operation. See CHECKING FLUID LEVEL .
