Test Procedure

- UA1 CHECK THE AFCM SCP CIRCUITS
- Key off.
- Disconnect the AFCM C1404.
- Measure the resistance between the AFCM C1404 pin 87, harness side and the DLC C251 pin 2, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between the AFCM C1404 pin 88, harness side and the DLC C251 pin 10, harness side.
Are The Resistances Less Than 5 Ohms?
Yes No GO to UA2. REPAIR the circuit in question. - UA2 CHECK THE PCM SCP CIRCUITS
- Disconnect PCM C175.
- Measure the resistance between the AFCM C1404 pin 87, harness side and the PCM C175 pin 16, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between the AFCM C1404 pin 88, harness side and the PCM C175 pin 15, harness side.
Are The Resistances Less Than 5 Ohms?
Yes No GO to UA3. REPAIR the circuit in question. - UA3 CHECK THE PCM CONFIGURATION
- Reconnect the PCM C175.
- Reconnect the AFCM C1404.
- Check the PCM configuration. Refer to the base vehicle INTRODUCTION - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE .
Is The PCM Configured Correctly?
Yes No GO to UA4. CALIBRATE the PCM or REPLACE if necessary. - UA4 CHECK FOR CORRECT AFCM OPERATION
- Disconnect the AFCM.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed out pins
- Connect the AFCM connector and make sure it is seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is The Concern Still Present?
Yes No INSTALL a new AFCM. The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
