Test Procedure

- DE1 MONITOR THE FRPREAB PID
- Connect the scan tool.
- Key on, engine off.
- Monitor the FRPREAB PID.
Is The Fuel Rail Pressure Within 517 To 827 KPA (75 TO 120 PSI)?
Yes No CLEAR the DTCs. ROAD TEST the vehicle. REPEAT the self-test. For DTC P0192, GO to DE2. For DTC P0193, GO to DE5. For DTC P0192, GO to DE2.
For DTC P0193, GO to DE5. - DE2 SIMULATE AN OPPOSITE FRP SENSOR SIGNAL
- Key off.
- Disconnect the FRP sensor C106.
- Key on, engine off.
- Monitor the FRPREAB PID.
- Install a 5 amp fused jumper wire between the FRP sensor C106 signal circuit, harness side and the FRP sensor C106 VREF circuit, harness side.
Is The FRPREAB PID Greater Than 965 KPA (140 PSI)?
Yes No Install a new FRP sensor. GO to DE3. - DE3 CHECK THE FRP SENSOR VREF AND SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Key off.
- Disconnect the AFCM C1404.
- Measure the resistance between the FRP sensor C106 VREF circuit, harness side and the AFCM C1404 pin 74, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between the FRP sensor C106 signal circuit, harness side and the AFCM C1404 pin 38, harness side.
Are The Resistances Less Than 5 Ohms?
Yes No GO to DE4. REPAIR the circuit in question. - DE4 CHECK THE FRP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the FRP sensor C106 signal circuit, harness side and ground.
- Measure the resistance between the FRP sensor C106 VREF circuit, harness side and ground.
Are The Resistances Less Than 5 Ohms?
Yes No GO to DE9. REPAIR the circuit in question. - DE5 SIMULATE AN OPPOSITE SENSOR SIGNAL
- Key off.
- Disconnect the FRP sensor C106.
- Key on, engine off.
- Monitor the FRPREAB PID.
Is The FRPREAB PID Less Than 34 KPA (5 PSI)?
Yes No GO to DE8. GO to DE6. - DE6 CHECK THE FRP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VREF
- Key off.
- Disconnect the AFCM C1404.
- Measure the resistance between the FRP sensor C106 signal circuit, harness side and the FRP C106 sensor VREF circuit, harness side.
Is The Resistance Greater Than 10,000 Ohms?
Yes No GO to DE7. REPAIR the circuit. - DE7 CHECK FRP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Key on, engine off.
- Measure the voltage between the FRP sensor C106 signal circuit, harness side and ground.
Is Any Voltage Indicated?
Yes No REPAIR the circuit. GO to DE9. - DE8 CHECK THE FRP SENSOR SIG RTN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Key off.
- Disconnect the AFCM C1404.
- Measure the resistance between the FRP sensor C106 SIG RTN circuit, harness side and the AFCM C1404 pin 74, harness side.
Is The Resistance Less Than 5 Ohms?
Yes No Install a new FRP sensor. REPAIR the circuit. - DE9 CHECK FOR CORRECT AFCM OPERATION
- Disconnect the AFCM.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed out pins
- Connect the AFCM connector and make sure it is seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is The Concern Still Present?
Yes No INSTALL a new AFCM. The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
