ALTERNATIVE FUELS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) DESCRIPTIONS

DTC Description Possible Causes Diagnostic Aids
P0182 - Fuel Rail Temperature (FRT) Sensor (A) Circuit Low Input
P0183 - Fuel Rail Temperature (FRT) Sensor (A) Circuit High Input
The alternative fuel control module (AFCM) monitors the fuel rail temperature (FRT) sensor. A fault is set when the AFCM receives an FRT sensor signal less than -62°C (-79 °F) or a signal greater than 127°C (260°F).
  • FRT sensor circuit is open
  • FRT sensor circuit is shorted to VPWR
  • FRT sensor circuit is shorted to GND
  • Damaged FRT sensor
  • Engine overheating
The FRTMPAB PID will display a default value of 57°C (135°F) when the FRT is continually shorted regardless of fuel flow or temperature. Place the key in the off position for five seconds; the actual temperature should be reflected (before FMEM substitution).
P0192 - Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor Low Input
P0193 - Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor High Input
The alternative fuel control module (AFCM) monitors the fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor. A fault is set when the AFCM receives an excessively high or low pressure reading. (Greater than 1034 kPa [150 psi] or less than 345 kPa [50 psi]).
  • FRP sensor circuit is open
  • FRP sensor circuit is shorted to VPWR
  • FRP sensor circuit is shorted to GND
  • Damaged FRP sensor
The FRPREAB PID will display the fuel rail pressure input to the AFCM.

The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the injector driver outputs. A fault is set when the PCM detects an electrical load failure on the output circuit.
  • Injector circuit is open
  • PCM injector driver
The injector driver fault PID INJxF PID will indicate YES.

P0283 - Cylinder 8 Injector Circuit High
The alternative fuel control module (AFCM) monitors the gasoline injector driver outputs. A fault is set when the AFCM detects an electrical load failure on the output circuit.
  • Injector circuit is open
  • Injector circuit is shorted to VPWR
  • Injector circuit is shorted to GND
  • Damaged injector
The gasoline fuel injector resistance is 11.0 to 18.0 ohms.
P0605 - Alternative Fuel Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error  This fault is set when the alternative fuel control module (AFCM) ROM has been corrupted.
  • Module programming error
  • Damaged AFCM
Retrieve and record the DTCs. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. If DTC P0605 is retrieved again, install a new AFCM.
P0606 - Alternative Fuel Control Module Internal Communication Error  This fault indicates an alternative fuel control module (AFCM) internal communications error.
  • Damaged AFCM
Retrieve and record the DTCs. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. If DTC P0606 is retrieved again, install a new AFCM.
