4R70W transmission is identified by a code letter on lower line of vehicle certification label. This code can be found directly under the TR designation. See Fig 2 . Label is attached to driver's door lock post. See TRANSMISSION CODE LETTER CHART . Transmission model may be identified by service identification tag attached to right side of transmission case or fluid pan. Tag shows transmission model, assembly number and serial number. See Fig 1 . For rear axle gear ratio, see code directly under the AXLE designation.
