Intermediate & Overdrive Servos: Installation

  1. Assemble the band servo cover (1), band servo piston (2) and the servo piston spring (3). See Fig 1 .
  2. CAUTION: Do not damage O-ring during installation. Do not press servo cover and O-ring past relief hole in case, or O-ring damage may occur.
  3. Lubricate band servo cover O-ring with petroleum jelly. Using the servo cover compressor, install the band servo cover retaining ring. See Figure or Figure .
  4. Adjust the appropriate band. See INTERMEDIATE & OVERDRIVE BANDS  under ADJUSTMENTS. Install the main control valve body. See CONTROL VALVE BODY  .
  5. Install the TR sensor. See TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR  . If equipped, position the transmission servo heat shield on the transmission and install the nut.
  6. Install the shift cable to the manual control lever. See Figure . Install the three-way catalytic converter. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Fill the transmission with appropriate fluid to proper level and check for correct transmission operation. See LUBRICATION  .
