WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lincoln Navigator, 2002 Ford Expedition, 2001 Lincoln Navigator, 2001 Ford RV Cutaway, and 2001 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
All gasoline vehicles equipped with Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor, will have new adaptive shift strategies. Whenever battery is disconnected for any reason, strategy parameters that are stored in Keep Alive Memory (KAM) will be lost. Once vehicle battery is reconnected, vehicle must be driven while Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns parameters from driving conditions. If a concern is present during downshifts or converter clutch apply, concern is not shift strategy and will require diagnosis as outlined.
Fluid level, shift linkage or cable, low line pressure, pump inlet filter plugged, filter seal damaged, improperly torqued valve body bolts, valve body gaskets damaged, loose or damaged center support assembly bolts and forward clutch assembly.
